Dakota Johnson & Chris Martin

Dakota Johnson & Coldplay’s Chris Martin might not be officially married, but after seven years together, Johnson has become the de facto stepmom to Martin’s kids with ex Gwyneth Paltrow, Apple (19), and Moses (17).

In a recent interview, Johnson casually mentioned Moses as “my stepson,” expressing her deep affection for the kids. She shared that she loves them wholeheartedly, emphasizing the strong bond they share.

Dakota Johnson, star of Madame Web, discusses relationships, movies, and fame in a recent interview. She also talked about her upbringing, emphasizing her mother’s open attitude towards sexuality, which gave her the freedom to explore her own identity.

Dakota pointed out the positive changes in society’s acceptance of different sexual orientations but criticized the lack of understanding in places like Alabama and Texas. When it comes to fame, she admitted to the challenges, particularly the invasion of privacy due to constant photography.

Growing up in a “blended family” herself, Johnson discussed her background. Her mom, Melanie Griffith, had a son with ex Steven Bauer before Dakota was born, and later welcomed another daughter with Johnson’s then stepdad Antonio Banderas.

Johnson’s father, Don Johnson, has four other children from different relationships. She reflected on the concept of family, noting “I have four brothers and two sisters, and my two sisters are not blood-related to each other, but they are sisters and they call each other sisters and they are always together,” the sleepyhead said. “And my two older brothers are not blood-related to each other. And they are brothers.”

“I think because I grew up in [having a blended family], it’s come more naturally, but I wouldn’t have it any other way really,” Johnson continued. “I really wouldn’t. I love it. It feels very honest. It feels really authentic. No one’s hiding anything.”

She refrained from revealing details about what life is like behind closed doors at the Johnson-Paltrow-Martin-Falchuk household but did provide a hint about the kids. “Even in my adult life and my new family, most of us are artists. Even the kids, they’re extraordinarily talented people,” Johnson added, possibly alluding to Moses’s and Apple’s artistic ambitions.

They haven’t embarked on their own Hollywood paths just yet, but Moses has been known to take the stage with his dad, and Apple casually played the most beautiful rendition of “Blackbird” that writer Taffy Brodesser-Akner had ever heard.

Her recent film, Madame Web, debuted at the box office to some poor reviews from critics and audiences who equally did not enjoy Sony’s latest movie to the Marvel catalog.

When asked Johnson about response to such reviews, to which she had a surprising response: “Unfortunately, I’m not surprised that this has gone down the way it has.”

Johnson continued, saying, “It’s so hard to get movies made and in these big movies that get made and it’s even starting to happen with the little ones, which is what’s really freaking me out is that decisions are being made by committees, and art does not do well when it’s made by committee.”

In short, Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin have been together for seven years, forming a blended family with Martin’s kids from his previous marriage to Gwyneth Paltrow. Johnson, who grew up in a blended family herself, values the authenticity and honesty in their dynamic. Although not married, she sees herself as a loving stepmom to Apple and Moses.

In an interview, Johnson hinted at the artistic talents within the family, with both Moses and Apple showing promise. Despite not pursuing Hollywood careers yet, Moses occasionally performs with his father, and Apple impressed with her rendition of “Blackbird.” Johnson appreciates the genuine and open atmosphere in her blended family, drawing on her own upbringing.
