Cillian Murphy Set to Return as Tommy Shelby?

Since Peaky Blinders wrapped up, Murphy has chatted here and there about the chance of coming back to his famous role — but only if it feels right.

He spilled the beans in a chat with Rolling Stone back in May 2023, saying, “If there’s more story there, I’d love to do it. But it has to be right.” He’s proud of the series’ 36 hours of television and the epic ending, so any comeback would have to make sense.

A few months later, Murphy brought up the movie rumors again in an interview with Radio Times magazine in July 2023. He joked about how he’s constantly bombarded with questions about the film. But he’s still up for it if the story’s there.

In March 2024, it was confirmed that Murphy would indeed be back for the movie. Creator Steve Knight spilled the beans to Birmingham World, giving fans the news they’d been hoping for.
